ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 16, 2012) – The Alexandria Beetles continued to make their move up in the North Division standings as they won their third straight game on Monday.
In the South Division, the Madison Mallards walked-off in the ninth inning to keep pace with the red-hot Woodchucks. Madison currently sits two games back of Wisconsin, who is now 10-0 in the second half.
Alexandria 9, Rochester 5
Jon Reed (Memphis) threw eight innings for Alexandria and allowed just two runs on two hits while striking out 11 batters. The Beetles will travel to Willmar to face the Stingers on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. start and the Honkers will travel to Mankato for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Waterloo 6, Willmar 4
Austin Barrett (Mercer) hit his third home run of the season and finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. The Bucks will host the St. Cloud Rox on Tuesday for a start time of 6:35 p.m.
Duluth, Thunder Bay
This game was postponed due to weather in Thunder Bay. The two teams will play a two seven-inning games on Tuesday beginning at 6:05 p.m. ET.
Mankato 8, St. Cloud 2
David Andriese (UC-Riverside) was 3-for-3 with two RBI and four runs scored for the MoonDogs. He also tallied his third home run of the season with a two-run shot in the top of the third inning.
Wisconsin Rapids 7, Wisconsin 9
J.D. Davis (Cal State Fullerton) crushed home runs two and three on the season as he went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored to help the Woodchucks edge the Rafters. The Rafters will host the Woodchucks on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
Green Bay 4, Madison 5
Nicholas Howard (Virginia) drove a walk-off single over the head of the Green Bay right fielder with the bases loaded to win the game for Madison. The Mallards will host the Bullfrogs again on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
La Crosse 1, Lakeshore 9
Jason Hoppe (Mankato State) threw 7.2 shutout innings and allowed just four hits while striking out five. The Loggers will host the Chinooks on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Battle Creek 2, Eau Claire 16
Casey Gillaspie (Wichita State) went 3-for-6 with two RBI and four runs scored for the Express as they rolled over Battle Creek. The Express will host the Bombers again on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
