The Battle Creek Bombers snapped their four-game losing streak, topping the Green Bay Bullfrogs, 7-3 at Joannes Stadium Saturday night.

The Bullfrogs took an early lead against Bombers' starter Cody Puckett in the bottom of the first as Austin Clemons led off the inning for the Bullfrogs with a double to right field, advancing to third on an error. After Marcus Shoemaker struck out, Quincy Nieporte walked to load the bases before Hill Alexander's sacrifice fly gave the Bullfrogs an early 1-0 lead.

But the Bombers would battle back in the top of the second, loading the bases on a leadoff walk by Jacob Blunt and back-to-back singles from Ryan Dorow and Dean Miller. With one out and the bases still loaded, Kevin Dupree and Nick Poirier hit back-to-back singles, tying the game up and giving the Bombers the lead.

After a wild pitch allowed Miller to score from third, the Bombers led 3-1, heading to the bottom of the second inning.

Green Bay would cut into the Bombers lead in the bottom of the third, as Clemons led off the inning with a triple, scoring on Parker Coss' RBI groundout, but Battle Creek would get the run back in the top of the fourth inning as Cody Sporrer's fielder's choice scored Dupree from third to extend the Bombers' lead to 4-2.

Clemons would continue his hot-hitting on the day against the Bombers though, as his second double of the day scored Chris Botsoe from third to cut the Bombers' lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth. Clemons finished 3 for 4 on the day with two doubles, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Bullfrogs would threaten again, but Puckett stranded Jonah Davis at third to keep the Bombers lead at one. Puckett finished the evening allowing three runs, two of which where unearned, on four hits over 5.0 innings pitched, striking out eight and walking three, picking up his third win of the season for Battle Creek.

Christian Helsel came on in relief for Puckett in the bottom of the sixth inning as Eric Gilgenbach, who pinch ran for Cody Young in the top of the inning, moved over to left field.

Helsel would pitch a scoreless bottom of the sixth, working around a two-out single, before the Bombers would extend their lead in the seventh.

Cody Sporrer led off the seventh for the Bombers, striking out against Bullfrogs' reliever Logan Elliot but reached first on the passed ball. Helsel laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Sporrer to second but the throw to first from Elliot was high and Sporrer advanced to third and Helsel to second on the error.

With runners at second and third, Jacob Blunt attempted a suicide squeeze, but the throw home was wide, allowing Sporrer to score and extending the Bombers' lead to 5-3. And then with Blunt at second and Helsel at third, Ryan Dorow was hit by a pitch to load the bases in the top of the seventh with nobody out.

After Dean Miller grounded out, Daniel Jipping, pinch-hitting for Gilgenbach, lined a single to right to score Blunt and Dorow and give the Bombers a 7-3 lead.

The Bombers would get into a jam in the seventh after Helsel walked the first two batters, but after a double-switch, moving Helsel back to left and bringing in Krystien Johnson-Battilana to pitch, Johnson-Battilana retired Hill Alexander and Matthew Hoeg to keep the Bombers' lead at 7-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Bullfrogs would threaten again, but Brandon Guske came on in relief for Johnson-Battilana and left the bases loaded, striking out Davis to end the inning.

Guske would return for the ninth to nail down the save as the Bombers snapped their four-game losing streak, topping the Bullfrogs, 7-3 in Green Bay.

With the win, the Bombers move to 23-24 on the year and 5-6 in the second half, while the Bullfrogs drop to 20-27 and 5-6 in the second. The Bombers will go for the sweep of the Bullfrogs Sunday afternoon at 4:05 CST/5:05 EST as they finish off their six-game road trip before heading back to Battle Creek for the All-Star break.
