Green Bay, Wisc. – The Battle Creek Bombers hit the road after three days off for the All-Star Break ready to hit, as they defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 12-8. 

The Bombers (28-20, 8-5) went down early 3-0, but answered back with 11 runs from innings two through five. 

Five different Bombers drove in runs, with seven also recording hits.  The Bombers had 10 hits on the night, most notably Nikola Vasic (McHenry County College) went 2-4 as he drove in a game-high four RBIs. 

Two different BC players knocked home runs, with Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University) bombing a three-run shot in the fourth.  Cody Hawken (University of Portland) slapped a solo shot in the seventh, his third HR.  Walker finished his night 1-3 as he knocked his second long ball, while Hawken went 2-5.

The pitching staff limited Green Bay to eight runs on 12 hits as starter Christian Griffin (West Alabama) picked up his third win.  He lasted 5.0 innings, striking out six batters and allowed 5 runs on nine hits.

Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) picked up his 17th multi-hit game, going 2-5 with an RBI.  Alex Howard (Arkansas State University), JD Mundy (Virginia Tech), and Alec Trela (University of Memphis) all picked up a hit.

Three different relievers would come out of the bullpen for Battle Creek, with Alex Smith (University of Memphis) tossing 2.0 innings allowing just two hits.  Tim Nelson (UC San Diego) threw the eighth, allowing one run on one hit. 

Alexander Leija (Marygrove College) came in the ninth, allowing two runs on two hits as he recorded two outs.  TJ Shook (Oakland University) recorded the final out of the ballgame.

BC is now 4-1 against GB, as they will look for their second sweep of the Bullfrogs and their eighth of the season.

Game two against the Bullfrogs will begin tomorrow at 8:05 p.m. ET from Joannes Stadium.
