Battle Creek Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers returned home to C.O. Brown Stadium and defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 12-6 in game one of the series.

BC (30-22, 10-7) fell behind early 4-0, but a six run fifth inning allowed the Bombers to cruise for their sixth victory over Green Bay (15-37, 3-14).

The six runs in the fifth came on only three hits for BC, but three errors in the inning and four walks didn’t help the Bullfrogs.

The Bombers also answered in the sixth, getting two RBIs from JD Mundy (Virginia Tech) and one from Wyatt Cross (Indiana University).  Mundy ended 1-3, as he would drive in four runs, moving his RBI total to 31.

Alex Howard (Arkansas State) continued the bats for BC in the seventh with an RBI-double.  He finished his night 3-6 at the plate, his 18th multi-hit game.

It was a tough start for Andrew Click (Davenport University) as he lasted only one inning, allowing three runs on four hits.  The BC bullpen came up big, as it was four relievers that would close out the game for the Bombers.

TJ Shook (Oakland University), Alex Smith (University of Memphis), Zach Helsel (Miami Dade), and Mark Quinby (UC San Diego) shut the door.  The four combined to allow only nine hits and three runs.

Nick Menken (Virginia Tech) had his second multi-hit game, going 2-5 and scoring two runs.  Alec Trela (University of Memphis) went 1-1 and walked three times.

Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) and Nikola Vasic (McHenry County College) each picked up hits, with Vasic bringing in a run.  Newcomer Evan Faccenda (Clarke University) picked up a hit in his Bombers debut.

Battle Creek will look for their third series sweep of the Bullfrogs tomorrow night, and their 9th sweep of the season.  Game two is set for a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Tune in to the pregame show on the Bombers Radio Network with Jake Hromada and Neil Doyle at 6:55 p.m. ET.
