Madison, Wis. – With a max capacity crowd on hand at Warner Park and what is known as the “Duck Pond,” it was the Madison Mallards who took game one of the series against Battle Creek 7-3.

The offense started early for Madison (37-34, 18-18) as they picked up five runs in the first three innings off BC starter Tyler Garam (Greensboro College).  Garam would suffer his fourth loss as he went 8.0 innings allowing the seven runs on six hits. 

It took six innings for the Bombers (42-29, 22-14) to pick up their first hits, as they recorded four in the inning and produced two runs.  RBIs from Alex Howard (Arkansas State University) and Nehwon Norkeh (Tennessee Weslyan University) helped cut into the deficit.  Howard finished his night 1-4 and picked up his 80^th hit of the season.

BC had a chance with the bases loaded in the eighth down 5-3, but a double play worked the Mallards out of the jam. 

The Mallards added a two-run home run in the eighth to seal their four-run victory. 

Battle Creek picked up seven hits as a team, with Cody Hawken (University of Portland) knocking a two-hit day.  

Four others picked up hits including Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech), Nick Walker (Austin Peay), Storm Joop (University of Indianapolis) and Aaron Antonini (Middle Tennessee State University). 

The team from Cereal City is now 4-3 on their eight game road-trip, with the final game of the regular season taking place tomorrow night.  First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. ET at Warner Park in Madison.
