Wausau) – Today’s roster additions feature two more players from Cal State Fullerton. Koby Gauna, a sophomore pitcher, and Jake Jefferies, a freshman infielder, will join the Woodchucks as the second and third players from Fullerton on the roster for the 2013 season.

Gauna has impressed in his second season with the Titans. In 8 games, including 3 starts, he has compiled a 2-0 record, with a 2.66 ERA and 13 strikeouts. This coming after a successful summer with the Cowlitz Black Bears of the West Coast League, where he went 2-2 with a 2.20 ERA in 12 appearances. His freshman year at Fullerton, Gauna was the biggest surprise among the pitching staff.

He earned a position as the mid-week starter, and reliable long-reliever. He appeared in 19 games, with 9 starts, compiling a 5-3 record with a 2.85 ERA. In 66 innings of work he only walked 8 batters, while striking out 31. His performance earned him Freshman All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.

His teammate, Jefferies, has seen limited playing time for the Titans as a true freshman. In 12 appearances, he is hitting .194 with 1 home run and 6 RBI. Jefferies was a very successful player coming out of Foothill High School in Pleasanton, Calif, having been drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 34th round of the 2012 draft. His senior year he hit .474 with 19 RBI, 13 extra-base hits and 15 stolen bases, earning him First Team All-East Bay honors. He is the son of former All-Star and Gregg Jefferies, who spent 14 years in Major League Baseball.
