Bayer, Borsa, Crabb and Duarte Put Finishing Touches on Bullfrogs Full-Time Roster

Green Bay, Wis.- Two right-handed pitchers, Luke Crabb and Peter Bayer, team with left-handed moundsman, Zack Borsa, as fresh options for the 2015 Green Bay staff. Also traveling from California to the Bullfrogs is one of the Big West Conference’s best players, utility-man, Mikey Duarte.

A 5’11” junior infielder from Redondo Beach, CA, Mikey Duarte, attends the University of California-Irvine. He can play 3B, SS, and 2B, and has maintained a .983 fielding percentage this spring. Duarte leads his team with a .345 AVG and .423 OBP, also pacing the Anteaters with 15 doubles. In 2014, Duarte was named second team All-Big West, and has led the team in batting average all three years at UCI. He attended St. John Bosco H.S. where he was named to the Long Beach Press Telegram Dream team, and All-Trinity Conference first team.

Peter Bayer is a 6’4” junior pitcher from the University of Richmond. As a relief-man and spot-starter, Bayer has eight appearances in 2015, half of which have lasted two innings or more. On March 11th, Bayer spun five innings surrendering just two earned runs against nationally ranked Maryland. As a sophomore, Bayer struck out 24 batters in just 33 2/3 innings and posted four wins as a freshman. A graduate of Regis Jesuit H.S., Bayer was 14-0 on the mound his last two years, and led his team to a state championship win.

The former teammate of fellow Bullfrog, Sam Brunner, Luke Crabb has molded an impressive season for the Dodge City C.C. Conquistadors. With his team 32-16, the 6’2” Crabb has the squad’s second best, 2.75 ERA in nine starts. Four of his starts have been shutouts, his four complete games rank first on the staff, and he has 71 strikeouts in 55 2/3 IP. In February, he was named KJCCC Pitcher of the Week. Crabb was 4-0 in 12 games for Dodge City last season. He’s a native of Independence, MO and played at Fort Osage H.S.

Hailing from Erie, PA (McDowell H.S.) Zack Borsa is a 6’0” sophomore left-handed pitcher for Parkland College in Champaign, IL. After nine appearances, Borsa has recorded a start in which he won in 4 1/3 IP, giving up just one run, against Kishwaukee College in a 16-3 win. In the summer of 2014, Borsa competed in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League, earning a 1.20 ERA in five starts.
