Skapura Returning to the Woodchucks for 2016 with 2 teammates

Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks announced the signing of three players from Texas A & M – Corpus Christi today. RHP Devin Skapura will be returning to the team along with two of his teammates, infielder Austin Blakeley and LHP Jesse Phip.    

Devin Skapura, a junior, is returning to the Woodchucks after a successful 2015 season where he was named a postseason Northwoods League All-Star. Skapura had the best ERA on the team, and second best in the league with an ERA of 2.11. He also led the 2015 Woodchucks in strikeouts with 51.

Austin Blakeley is a 6’ 4” freshman from Hallsville, TX. Blakeley was named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American after hitting .558 with 26 doubles, which is a state record for Texas high school baseball, in 2015.

Jesse Phip, a 6’3” freshman from Lufkin, TX, finished his senior season with a 7-2 record in 11 games on the mound. He recorded a 2.68 ERA, with 52 strikeouts and had a .333 batting average from the plate.
