The Mankato MoonDogs bounced back after losing one and defeated Thunder Bay and now hold a game lead in the second half standings and a half game lead in the overall. The Kenosha Kingfish took advantage of the Rafters being rained out as they won and are now within 6.5 of Rapids. Battle Creek won their third in a row and have now forced a three-team tie with Rapids and Lakeshore for first in the second half.

Lakeshore 11, Fond du Lac 2

The Lakeshore Chinooks kept pouring it on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders all game as they went on to win 11-2. Fondy scored first in the bottom half of the opening inning when Eric Feliz (Notre Dame) came home on an error. Lakeshore answered back to get five in the top of the second which included a three-run shot by Matthew Mika (Central Florida). The Chinooks got two in the third from a double and two more in the fourth from the long ball by Rylan Thomas (Central Florida). Fondy got one in the seventh from a pass ball, but Lakeshore got one in each of the final two innings as that went on to be the final score.

Waterloo 4, Willmar 11

The Willmar Stingers used early power to pull ahead of the Waterloo Bucks and win 11-4. Nolan Bumstead (CSUN) put the Stingers on the board with a solo shot in the second. Josh Bissonette (Baylor) then put three more up for Willmar in the third from the long ball. The Bucks got two back in the fifth which started from an RBI single by Zach Malis (Grand Canyon). Bumstead delivered again in the bottom half of the fifth with a two-run double. Waterloo got their own two-run double in the sixth, but a sac fly added another for Willmar. The Stingers put up two more in the seventh which included three errors in the inning. They added a pair in the eighth and the Stingers retired the side in the ninth to win the game after walking the first two batters.

Bismarck 4, Rochester 0

The Bismarck Larks threw two pitchers to shutout the Rochester Honkers 4-0. The Larks got on the board right away with a pair in the first from a double by Ryan Anderson (UC Davis). Bismarck got another two in the fourth from a run by Noah Sadler (Illinois State) on a bases loaded hit by pitch and Luke Horanski (Virginia Tech) scored from a wild pitch. The Larks shutdown the Honkers for the first 6.2 from Andy Lalonde (Southern New Hampshire) who only allowed two hits and two walks while striking out seven for his fourth win. The Honkers threw three pitchers out of the bullpen for the final 4.2 and didn’t allow a run, but Jake Kari (Augsburg) threw the final 2.1 scoreless for the Larks to end the game.

Mankato 11, Thunder Bay 2

The Mankato MoonDogs scored four late to pull ahead of the Thunder Bay Border Cats and win 11-2. Mankato scored first in the second inning when Daniel Amaral (UCLA) drove in a run from a single. The MoonDogs scored another five in the fifth which started from an RBI single by Ethan Valdez (Nicholls State). Kenton Crews (Evansville) followed with a two-run double and Valdez then scored on a sac fly and Crew came home on a single. Jean-Francois Garon (Bradley) led off the bottom half of the inning with a home run, but the MoonDogs got another in the sixth from an RBI single. Up by five in the top of the ninth, Mankato wasn’t done and poured on four more. Back-to-back to RBI doubles sent three in and another scored later on from a sac fly which resulted in the final score.

Kenosha 5, Wisconsin 4

The Kenosha Kingfish held off a late rally from the Wisconsin Woodchucks and won the game 5-4. Tim Millard (Dallas Baptist) put the Kingfish on the board in the third from a two-run double. Kenosha got another pair of run in the fourth from an RBI double by Ben Troike (Illinois) who later scored on an RBI ground out. The Chucks got on the board with a solo shot by Logan Foster (Texas A&M) in the bottom half, but Kenosha added another in the sixth. Wisconsin got two in the seventh from an RBI single by James Davison as he later scored on an RBI double. Chad Fleischman (Lamar) hit a solo shot in the eighth for Wisconsin, but Billy McKay (Florida) came on for the ninth and converted his ninth save.

La Crosse 1, Eau Claire 4

The Eau Claire Express got the first seven innings scoreless from Drew Gillespie (New Mexico) as they went on to defeat the La Crosse Loggers 4-1. Justin Evans (Columbus State) drove in the first two in the third for Eau Claire on a double. Luke Bandy (Dallas Baptist) then got two more for the Express in the fifth from a single. With one out in the top of the ninth, Jeremy Ydens (UCLA) singled in a run for La Crosse. Victor Chavez (Scottsdale CC) then came in for Eau Claire, allowed a walk and then struck out the final two guys to end the game.

Battle Creek 10, Green Bay 5

The Battle Creek Bombers used seven runs in the first four innings as they defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 10-5. Aaron Antonini (Middle Tennessee State) started a four-run second inning for the Bombers with an RBI single and he later scored on a wild pitch which was then followed up by another single. Battle Creek scored three in the fourth from a two-run single and a fielder’s choice from a caught stealing. Green Bay came within two in the sixth which featured a Dan Leckie (Lafayette) grand slam. Battle Creek added three insurance runs in the seventh which was started from a two-run long ball by JD Mundy (Virginia Tech).
