Duluth, Minn. — The Duluth Huskies (17-10) started the series against the Mankato MoonDogs with a 4-2 win.

 

Eric Morell started the game for the Huskies pitching 7.0 solid innings allowing just 5 hits with 2 runs and recording 3 strikeouts. The Huskies were the first ones to put a run up on the board thanks to Cal Stevenson’s walk with the bases loaded that scored TJ Martin. The Huskies scored another run in the 3rd inning when Elliot Barzilli drove in Colton Waltner with a double. The Huskies were able to put two more runs on the board in the 4th inning thanks an error by the shortstop that scored Stevenson and Waltner.

Rickey Ramirez started the game for the MoonDogs giving up 4 hits and 2 runs in 3.0 innings of pitching. The MoonDogs were held quiet until the 4th inning when Christoph Bono hit a homerun scoring Jack Flansburg. After the 4th inning the MoonDogs weren’t able to get another run on the board for the remainder of the game.

Eric Morell got the win for the Huskies making that his fourth win of the year and third in a row. Austin Carpenter ended the game with his twelfth save of the season. Austin Warner ended up with the loss for the MoonDogs.

The Huskies are set to end the series against the MoonDogs tomorrow July 31st at 6:35pm. This will be the last Huskies home game of the regular season as well.
