Huskies traveled back to Wade stadium Wednesday night to take on a home and home series against the Eau Claire Express. It started out a pitcher’s duel and both arms worked efficient and speedy. Huskies Nick Scheidler (UCLA) went five innings picking up four strikeouts and only allowing two runs. It wasn’t till the sixth inning when the Huskies were able to establish a lead and put some momentum on the board.

Four runs on three hits gave the Huskies the lead through seven innings of play. That was when things went south for the team out of northern Minnesota. Three pitchers for the Huskies saw action in the eighth inning, allowing two hits on three runs to give the Eau Claire Express the comeback they were looking for, eventually tying the game at 6-6.

This score remained till the bottom of the ninth inning, in which the Huskies failed to bring the game winning run in to force the game to extras. The Express came out in the top of the tenth inning and did whatever it took to put them ahead. A balk with two runners in scoring position gave the Express that lead 9-7. It all came down to the bottom of the tenth at Wade stadium, with two outs Rudy Karre (Kansas) hit a homerun over the left field wall but it was not enough as the Huskies dropped this game 9-7

Huskies have a much-needed day off tomorrow and will be back on the road starting Friday (8/4) for another five games on the road.
