FOND DU LAC, WI- The Dock Spiders drop to 10-16 on the season following their 7-4 loss to the Kalamazoo Growlers Saturday night at Herr-Baker Field.

Looking for their second win in the row, the Dock Spiders took a 1-0 lead in the first inning following an RBI groundout off the bat of Andrew Bullock. With 18 runs driven in now, Bullock leads the team and is tied for 12th most in the Northwoods League.

Fondy's starting pitcher started the evening off by tossing three scoreless innings and racking up seven strikeouts in the process. Connolly was cruising until allowing a run in the 4th inning on an RBI double from Michael Diffley, who went 4-8 with 2 RBI's in the series.

The Dock Spiders broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 4th with a solo home run from Joe Breaux (his first on the year). The 2-1 lead was the last lead the Spiders would possess as the Growlers struck for three runs in the top of the 5th inning to make it 4-2. Connolly was chased after allowing 3 earned runs on four hits and three walks.

The two run lead for the Growlers would hold steady until Luke Mangieri drove in his first of two RBI's of the day on a ground out. The lead had been trimmed to one, before the Growlers cashed in on two errors and a dropped third strike to score three more runs in the 8th and take a 7-2 lead.

Mangieri would add another RBI in the 9th to make it 7-3, but that was as close as it would become. Connolly suffers the loss while Growlers starter Blake Therrian earns the victory.

The homestand concludes tomorrow as the Kenosha Kingfish come into town for a 1:05 start time. Tomorrow's game includes a can coozie giveaway for the first 500 fans into the park.
