Frogs Looking to Sweep Rafters

The Bullfrogs take on the Rafters for the last time this season.

Green Bay, Wis- Last night, the Bullfrogs beat the Rafters 4-2 in Wisconsin Rapids. This was the first time the Bullfrogs have bested the Rafters this season. Tonight, the two teams will play for the final time this season at Joannes Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m..

After last night’s game, the Bullfrogs advanced to 2-7 during the second half of the season, while the Rafters fell 5-3. The Rafters loss last night dropped them from the leaders of the South Division to 3rd place behind the Battle Creek Bombers and the Lakeshore Chinooks. The Rafters are now on a two game losing streak. The Frogs look to repeat last night’s victory tonight in front of their home crowd.

Ben Hart (Oakland University) was selected as the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Game for the second night in a row. Hart is on a hitting hot streak with yet another home run in last night’s game. He went 3-4 with three hits, one run, and 2 RBIs last night. Hart hit home runs on back to back nights, the first a three run shot on July 12th against the Mallards and a two run shot to take the lead in the 9th inning getting the Bullfrogs the win. In the last two days, Hart has had two runs, five hits, two home runs, and six RBIs. Bullfrogs fans hope to see Hart continue his hot hitting streak tonight at home!

New comer Matt Goytia (Riverside City College) pitched the first six innings of the game. He allowed three hits, two runs and struck out three batters. Last night Nick Parr (Oakland University) got the win for the Bullfrogs. He pitched two innings and did not allow any hits. Darren Kelly (Alabama State) finished out the final inning of the game, getting the save. He also did not allow any hits.  

On the mound, tonight for the Bullfrogs is right-handed pitcher Will Gilbert (Baylor). Gilbert has eight appearances for the Bullfrogs with three starts. He has a 2-2 record this season and sports a 4.61 ERA. In his 25.1 innings pitched he has struck out 21 batters.  

Pitching tonight for the Rafters is Jack Eagan. Eagan is a left handed pitcher from Madison College. This season with the Rafters Eagan has a 6-0 record starting in seven games. He sports a 2.74 ERA and has struck out 44 batters in 39.1 innings pitched.
