Kalamazoo, Mich. – In the second game of the series the Kingfish found themselves behind but unlike last night, could not rally for the victory. The Kingfish fall to the Kalamazoo Growler 5-1, splitting the series and snapping their six game winning streak.

The lone run came from second baseman Chris Godinez, a home run with two outs in the top of the sixth inning in response to the four runs the Growlers scored in the bottom of the fifth. The home run was nothing short of expected as Godinez has been hot as of late, with a .390 batting average and at least one RBI in the past seven games.

Kingfish starter Trevor Haas went five innings, giving up five runs along the way with a strikeout. Brett Shimanovsky and Caleb Haley pitched well and held the Growlers at their five runs.  In his one inning of work, Haley struck out two of the three batters faced in only his second inning pitched for the Kingfish.

Despite the loss, the Kingfish remain in the hunt for a play-off spot. They sit in third place, only a half game back on the second place Wisconsin Woodchucks.  The Kingfish return to Simmons Field tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. to take on the eighth place La Crosse Loggers. The night will feature the Chevrolet Lynch King Elvis LEGO Kit Giveaway.

The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on 7-game packs, season or group tickets, please log on to kingfishbaseball.com or call 262.653.0900.
