Kenosha, Wis. – The importance of a quality manager in the game of baseball cannot be overstated. Whether it is setting the lineup, helping players out of slumps, or simply setting the tone for the locker room, the manager has a hand in every aspect of the team. That being the case, the Kingfish are in great shape with head man Duffy Dyer. Thursday, July 24th, the Kingfish honor their head coach with Lee Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric Duffy Dyer Bobblehead Giveaway. This limited quantity of bobbleheads will be given out upon ballpark entry starting when gates open at 6:05 p.m. with a 7:05 p.m. game start.

Drafted by the New York Mets with the ninth pick of the 1966 MLB, Dyer would become a mainstay behind the plate for 14 years. Over the course of his career, he would play for four different clubs; Mets, Pirates, Tigers, Expos. Dyer’s ability to field his position and call effective games earned respect from teammates and competitors alike. The catcher’s career highlights include catching from legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan and winning the 1969 World Series as a part of the “Miracle Mets.”

Following his playing career, Dyer would head to the bench. He was the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs in 1983. The next year he would take over the Kenosha Twins, the single-A affiliate for the Minnesota Twins.
