Kingfish Release 2016 Schedule

 

Kingfish to Host Season Opener on May 31st at 7:05 pm

 

Kenosha, Wis. – The Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League have announced the schedule for the 2016 season. The Northwoods League will once again play a 72-game inter-divisional schedule.

The Kingfish will open their season at home for the first two games on May 31st and June 1st at Historic Simmons Field against the La Crosse Loggers. The Kingfish play 14 home games in May/June, 15 in July, and 7 in August. This summer’s Kingfish schedule features 18 games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The first half of the season will be complete at the end of play on Tuesday, July 5th, with the second half beginning on Wednesday, July 6th. The first and second half division winners from both the North and South will meet in a best-of-three Divisional Playoff Series on August 15th thru August 17th. The North and South Division Champions will then meet in a best-of-three series for the Summer Collegiate World Series on August 18th thru August 20th. In 2015, the Kingfish won the Northwoods League Summer Collegiate World Series.

The Kingfish will play a split-double header on both June 20th and August 1st, against the Lakeshore Chinooks. On June 20th the Kingfish will play at Lakeshore at 11:35 am and then host the Chinooks at Historic Simmons Field at 7:05 pm. On August 1st, the first game will start in Kenosha at 12:05 pm, followed by the second game at Lakeshore at 6:35 pm.

A new team in Rockford, Illinois will join the Northwoods League in 2016, with the franchise in Alexandria dropping out.  With the change, the La Crosse Loggers will transition to the North Division, with Rockford playing in the South. The North Division franchises include the Eau Claire Express, Thunder Bay Border Cats, Waterloo Bucks, Mankato MoonDogs, Duluth Huskies, Willmar Stingers, La Crosse Loggers, St. Cloud Rox, and Rochester Honkers. The South Division is comprised of the Kingfish, Madison Mallards, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Green Bay Bullfrogs, Lakeshore Chinooks, Wisconsin Woodchucks, Kalamazoo Growlers, Battle Creek Bombers and the new franchise in Rockford.

The Kingfish will play their inter-divisional games against the Waterloo Bucks and the La Crosse Loggers.

Single-game tickets for all Kingfish home games will go on sale Saturday, April 30th.
