Kenosha, Wis. – The Kingfish (22-36 overall) fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 8-1 at home. The loss splits the series between the two clubs. 

Wisconsin Rapids capitalized on three Kingfish errors to build a quick 5-0 lead through four innings. The Rafters tacked on with three home runs late in the game to extend their lead, and finished off the Kingfish 8-1. 

Cole Erickson started for the Kingfish and had a strong outing. He threw six innings, allowed six runs, two earned runs, and struck out seven. He takes the loss, however, and is now 2-3 on the year. Trent VanEgtern made his Northwoods League debut and allowed two runs, while Andrew Burnick threw 1.2 perfect innings to finish out the game. 

Jake Smith led the way offensively for the Kingfish with three singles in a 3 for 4 afternoon. Marty Bechina had a 2 for 4 day at the plate, while Dylan Rosa went 1 for 4 and scored the only run for the Kingfish. 

The Kingfish will have a doubleheader with the Lakeshore Chinooks beginning at noon tomorrow at Simmons Field, and then will play the second game in Mequon at 6:05 CT.
