Waterloo, Iowa- La Crosse drops their 5th straight contest, this time to the Waterloo Bucks, 7-1.

La Crosse struck first in the 2nd inning. Grant Fennell (Nevada) singled with an out in the inning. Jake Hirabayashi (UCLA) followed with a walk. Kevin Collard (San Diego) put the runners on the move with his team high 25th hit of the season. The hit scored Fennell, but Hirabayashi was tagged out trying to make it home.

Taylor Boyd (St. Joesph’s) matched the score for the Bucks in the 3rd with a double, scoring Daniel Perry (Iowa).

Waterloo took their first when a leadoff walk by Adam McGinnis (Western Illinois) lead to a 2-1 lead on a double by Brody Weiss (Riverside City). La Crosse nearly got out of the inning without more damage. An error by the Logger second baseman Cullen Large (William & Mary) the Bucks load the bases with two outs. Taylor Boyd struck again, this time scoring two runs on a single.  

The Bucks added three more runs, and ended up taking the game 7-1.

Patrick Boyle (Missouri Baptist) won his 2nd game in 6 starts (2-1) going 6.0 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 3 more.

Mitch Stalsberg (Winona State) had his first rough start of a spectacular start to the season. He went 6.0 innings, surrendering 5 runs on only 5 hits. He struck out 9 Bucks, giving him a league-leading 43 for the year.

La Crosse falls to 14-13 with the loss, breaking their 6-game road winning streak. Waterloo remains tied with St. Cloud (18-8) for the North Division lead. La Crosse now trails by 4.5 games. Game two of the 4-game series begins tomorrow at 7:05.
