La Crosse, Wisc. – Mason McCoy (Iowa) breaks a 19-year old League record in a 5-2 win over the Mankato MoonDogs.

Mankato grabbed the lead early with a run in the 2nd. Two walks and a infield single loaded the bases with one out. Loggers’ starting pitcher Jon Teaney (San Diego) could not get out of the inning without giving up a run. He walked Mike Brookshaw (Augsburg) on a full count, scoring Jordan Washam (Louisiana Tech) from 3rd.

Griffin Conine (Duke) responded with his 15th home run of the season on a one out, 1-1 pitch to tie the game at 1-1.

The MoonDogs loaded the bases again in the 4th on two singles and a hit batter. A line drive single by David Metzgar (Cal St. Bakersfield) to left field brought in Jordan Washam for the go-ahead run.

Mason McCoy (Iowa) broke a 0-17 streak with a 2-run home run blast to left field, to give the Loggers a 3-2 lead. McCoy doubled in his next at-bat in the 7th. Cullen Large (William & Mary brought him in on a groundout to the first baseman. That run took him past Shaynes Carnes (Waterloo, 1995-1997) for the Northwoods League career runs record with his 130th.

La Crosse took another run in the 8th, which would be enough for a 5-2 win. Cason Sherrod (Texas A&M) pitched a scoreless 9th for his 2nd save.

Jon Teaney receive the win (6-3) for the Loggers. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. He walked 3 with 3 strikeouts.

Ricky Digrugilliers (Western Illinois) took the loss (6-3) for the MoonDogs. He went 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. He walked a batter with 3 strikeouts.

La Crosse moves to 18-13 in the 2nd half (35-32 overall with the win. Mankato falls to 21-11 in the 2nd half (43-24 overall). La Crosse heads on the road for the final time this season.
