DULUTH, MN – The La Crosse Loggers opened their current six-game road trip with a bang on Tuesday night when they bettered the Duluth Huskies by a final of 8-2 at Wade Municipal Stadium.

The Lumbermen came out swingning when they posted a four-spot in the top of the first inning off of Duluth starter Greg Brown.  Jake Hirabayashi (UCLA) brought home a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, followed one batter later by Korey Lee's (CAL) two-run single and then capped off by an RBI-double from Jeremy Ydens (UCLA).

That would prove to be more than enough for Loggers starter Garrett Christman (Butler) who efficiently breezed through 6.2 innings, limiting the Huskies to just one run on six hits while walking one and striking out one to earn the victory.

La Crosse would continue to add to it's lead with single runs in the third and the sixth innings and Jake Thurber (New Mexico) would add on a two-RBI single in the seventh to extend the Loggers lead to eight.

Charlie Fletcher (William and Mary) and Ryan Anderson (Nevada) would come on in relief of Christman to secure the Loggers victory.

The Lumbermen pounded out ten hits on the night, led by Ydens and Grant Judkins (Iowa) who had two safeties each.

The Loggers and Duluth will conclude this two-game series on Wednesday night with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.  Air time on the Loggers Radio Network is set for 6:00 p.m.
