LA CROSSE, WI – After a three-day All-Star Break, the La Crosse Loggers return to The Lumberyard with hopes of being refreshed and ready to go on a run during the last third of the 2017 summer season. The Loggers would play host, once again, to the Eau Claire Express. After losing a close one the previous game, the Loggers would return the favor to the Express. Tonight, your La Crosse Loggers came out on top, as they held on to beat the Express 5-3.

Getting the start on the mound tonight would be left-hander, Ryan Anderson (Nevada). In 6.0 innings of work, Anderson would allow just one run on two hits and collect four strikeouts. This impressive outing would secure the win for Anderson pushing him to 1-0 on the season with a 3.30 ERA. Helping the starter out tonight would be his collegiate teammate, RHP Grant Ford (Nevada). Ford would allow two runs on one hit with four strikeouts in 2.0 innings. To close out the game and earn the save, RHP Charlie Fletcher (William & Mary) would strikeout the side in the top of the ninth. Taking the loss on the night was Express' RHP Luke Eldred.

The Loggers' offense outshined the Express by eight hits. Contributing to the team total of 11 hits were 9-of-10 Loggers to make plate appearances. Leading the way were Mitchell Morimoto (Arizona) going 2-for-5 with two RBI, Jorge Gutierrez (Texas A&M) going 1-for-2 with two RBI thanks to a two-run blast over right field fence, and Cameron Blake (Texas A&M) going 2-for-3 with one RBI including a solo shot immediately following his collegiate teammate's in the bottom of the second inning.

The Loggers will now go play one game in Eau Claire before returning home for a weekend series against the Willmar Stingers. Come out and see your La Crosse Loggers play on Saturday, July 22 at 6:05 PM. It is Totally 80's Night! Prizes will be given for the best mullet and big hair along with a night full of 80's moive triva and 80's tunes all night long.
