LA CROSSE, WI – In hopes of spliting the two-game weekend series against the Willmar Stingers, the La Crosse Loggers were looking to bounce back from a tough loss the night before. A team that has struggled with finding solid pitching and lacked situational hitting was unable to pull off the win, as they drop another 1-7 making them 19-31 on the season and 5-11 in the second half.

The Loggers' All-Star, RHP Derik Beauprez (Nova Southeastern), would get the start on the hill tonight. He put on quite the show for the fans as he pitched 6.0 innings allowing four runs on five hits and tallying six strikeouts. Relief appearances were made by both RHP Pat Kenny (Regis) and LHP Johnny Croley (Reinhardt). Kenny allowed three runs on two hits in 1.2 innings and Croley allowed no runs on no hits with one strikeout in 1.1 innings. Unfortunately, after his great start, Beauprez would be handed the loss dropping him to 2-3 on the season with a 3.00 ERA. The win would go to Stingers' RHP Tyler Oldenberg.

The Loggers' offense was unable to punch runs in when they need it most, which has been a common theme this season. Many Loggers' base runners have been left in scoring positions. Contributing the most to the Loggers' six hits on the night were Kennie Taylor (Duke) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Luke Rasmussen (Long Beach State) went 1-for-4 with a RBI single.

The Loggers will now travel on a small road trip to Duluth for three games in two days before retunring to The Lumberyard on Wednesday, July 26. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM against the Rochester Honkers, who is hosting game one of the doubleheader in Rochester, MN at 12:05 PM that very same day. It is Wine, Women, & Baseball Night with ELMARO VINEYARD! "Wine-Down Wednesdays" are for enjoying free samples of wine from ELMARO VINEYARD before the game. The gates open at 6:00 PM, so come out and cheer on the Loggers to victory at The Lumberyard!
