DULUTH, MN – After mustering just one hit in a 3-1 loss in the opener, the La Crosse Loggers erupted for 14 hits and nine runs en route to a 9-3 victory in game #2 of a doubleheader at Wade Stadium in Duluth, Minn. on Monday night.

Duluth starter Pierre Amador was the story of the opener as he limited the Lumbermen to just one unearned run on just one hit over 6.2 innings in leading the hosts to a 3-1 victory.  Sam Messina (Army) took the loss for La Crosse after surrendering three runs on six hits over five innings.

The second game had a much different feel as the Loggers scored early and often in this one plating a run in the first, two in the second and two more in the third to take an early 5-0 lead after three innings.  Starter Peter Hamot (Lewis) went on to toss six effective innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out two.  Eight of the nine Loggers starters collected hits, led by Kennie Taylor's (Duke) four-hit night that raised his season average to a team-best .328.  Korey Lee (Cal), Jake Hirabayashi (UCLA) and Ryan Mantle (Creighton) all tallied two hits apiece and David Villar (South Florida) blasted his team-high ninth home run.

The same two teams will wrap up their season series on Tuesday night again at Wade Stadium with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch scheduled.  Air time on the Logger Nation Station, 102.7 FM, will be at 6:05 p.m.
