Madison, WI – After coming off a tough loss to the Madison Mallards, your Lakeshore Chinooks took on the Mallards in game two Wednesday night where they looked to redeem themselves with a win. After a night of solid pitching and hot hitting to back it up, the Chinooks secured a 4-0 win over the Mallards.

Lefty pitcher Mike Reitcheck (Penn) made the start for the Mallards and came into the game with a 4.18 ERA in his 43 innings pitched. This was Reitcheck’s second appearance against the Chinooks as he got the win on June 8th.

The game got off to a slow start offensively for both teams until the top of the sixth when Owen Miller (Illinois State) led off the Chinooks order with a double. Tim DalPorto (Kent State) advanced Miller to third after he roped a single. A putout followed that allowed Miller to score and put the Chinooks on the board 1-0. Up to bat was Hayden Senger (Miami-Ohio) who singled and advanced to second which allowed DalPorto to score and gave the Chinooks a solid 2-0 lead.

The Mallards went to their bullpen to finish the top of the sixth after they saw enough scoring from the Chinooks. Alex Smith (North Florida) took the mound and got out of the rest of the sixth clean.

The Chinooks added on two more in the top of the seventh. Kevin Riley (Chaffey CC) and Zac Taylor (Houston) both started off with singles to put runners on first and second with no outs. Both runners then advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch followed which allowed Riley to score and an error on the Mallards catcher brought Taylor home to put the Chinooks up 4-0.

On the mound for the Chinooks was Tyler Jandron (UW-Parkside) who made his fifth start on the year and came into the game with a 2.22 ERA and a 1-1 record with his first win being against the Mallards on July 1st. Jandron would be phenomenal on the mound as he pitched eight scoreless innings while only giving up four hits against his 30 batters faced and racked up 6 strikeouts.

Four runs is all the Chinooks would need as Nick Horvath (Florida) came into pitch in the bottom of the ninth and held the Mallards scoreless which allowed Jandron to earn the win and the Chinooks to beat the Mallards 4-0.

It was a team effort tonight as the team combined for ten hits and Riley, Ando and Miller all went 2-4 at the plate.

The Chinooks hit the road to take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters Thursday night in game one of a two game series. First pitch will be at 7:05.
