May18The Madison Mallards have signed two players from the Midwest, adding Danny Mayer (University of the Pacific) and Colin Brockhouse (Ball State University) to the roster.

Mayer, a 6’5,” 245-pound outfielder from Downers Grove, Illinois, is currently in his junior season at Pacific. He has started in all of the Tigers’ 47 games, hitting .300 while leading the team in home runs (14), RBIs (38), doubles (15), runs (44) and at-bats (207).

 

As a sophomore, Mayer played in 19 games, recording five RBIs and scoring four runs.

In his first season with the Tigers, Mayer appeared in 19 games as both a backup outfielder and designated hitter. He had seven base hits in 41 at-bats.

Mayer was a standout player at Downers Grove South High School, earning all-conference and all-area honors as a senior, with his .415 batting average with 43 RBIs.

Brockhouse, a 6’2,” 195-pound sophomore from Fort Wayne, Indiana, is finishing up his second season at Ball State. He’s batting .263 with three home runs and a dozen RBIs. Brockhouse has appeared in 25 of the Cardinals’ 52 games at third base, and has pitched 55.1 innings for the team. In that body of work, he has struck out 53 and won three games.

As a freshman, Brockhouse played in 28 games at third base, notching 86 at-bats. In that span, Brockhouse hit .267 with a home run while knocking in 12. On the mound, Brockhouse recorded 36 innings of work, striking out 33 and posting a perfect 4-0 record.

While at Northrop High School, Brockhouse was a three-year letter winner, helping his team post a 57-18 record in those three seasons. Brockhouse was an All-State selection as a junior, hitting .505 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs.
