Last night, the Madison Mallards (7-9) offense stayed hot as they cruised past the Green Bay Bullfrogs (6-10), 16-0. Four Mallards notched multi-hit games in the rout while strong pitching across the board solidified the win. With the win Madison improved to 2-1 this season against the Bullfrogs with a combined 36 runs scored in the two victories.

Tonight, the Mallards return to the Duck Pond for game two of the two-game set with the Bullfrogs. Madison’s offense will look to continue their hot streak at the plate in hopes of a sweeping series and stretching their win streak to three.

Mallards shortstop Cole Daily (Notre Dame) continued his strong summer last night with three hits, including a triple, and a pair of runs batted in. The performance bumped Daily up to a .369 batting average, good for first on the team. Madison second baseman Cade Bunnell (Madison College) tallied three hits of his own and also knocked in three.

Scheduled to take the bump for the Mallards is starting pitcher Luke Matheny (Oklahoma State). Matheny owns a 0.81 ERA after allowing his first run of the season on June 9 when he went six innings and earned a win. He has shown the ability to control the strike zone so far this season as he has struck out eight and walked just one. Matheny will look to keep the Bullfrogs lineup in check again after he shut them out through five innings in his first start of the season on June 3.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM at the Duck Pond and gates open at 5:00 PM. Tonight’s game features Sunbelt Rental Tots N’ Trucks Night and post-game fireworks presented by LSM Chiropractic.
