MoonDogs Sign Pair from Middle Tennessee

MANKATO, Minn- The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the signing of pitcher Garrett Ring, as well as infielder Dustin Delgado for the 2014 season.

Ring, a six-foot, 200-pound right-hander finished his freshman year at Middle Tennessee State with a 5.40 ERA. He had 22 strikeouts and did not allow a home run in 21.2 innings pitched. Ring surrendered just one hit through five innings to pick up his first career victory against Southern Illinois and struck out the side in the ninth inning of a victory over Tennessee.

"Hopefully he can start for us. He should be a power arm; a sophomore that kind of fits our profile for what we're looking for," said MoonDogs field manager Mike Orchard.

Dustin Delgado brings stellar defense and exceptional hitting to the MoonDogs. He committed just seven errors in 57 games as a sophomore at Columbia State CC. Delgado also held a .384 batting average and had 47 runs scored, 32 RBIs and 17 stolen bases for the Chargers. He was voted first team All-Tennessee JUCO the same year.

"He's reliable. He's a shortstop that can make all the plays defensively," Orchard said. "The fact that he leads off for them, has quality at bats, takes his walks. Those are the type of guys that can win you games."

Delgado, a six-foot, 185-pound junior should see a lot of playing time at shortstop for the MoonDogs.

The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 7:05 p.m. against the Alexandria Blue Anchors at Franklin Rogers Park. Season tickets are now on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street
