The Mankato MoonDogs dropped their series finale with the Waterloo Bucks by a score of 9-5 at Riverfront Stadium on Monday evening.

The MoonDogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a two-run single off the bat of Levi Scott and a sacrifice fly by Brinn Bell in the top of the first inning.

However, the Bucks scored four runs in the third and three more in the fourth to take a 7-3 lead over the MoonDogs into the fifth inning.

The MoonDogs threatened late in the game, coming to within 7-5 on a two-run double off the right-centerfield wall by Scott in the top of the seventh.

The Bucks bounced back with one run in the seventh and one in the eighth to secure a 9-5 victory.

Austin Warner suffered the loss for the MoonDogs, falling to 2-2 on the season. With the loss Mankato is now 4-2 in the second half.

The MoonDogs return home to Franklin Rogers Park Tuesday afternoon for game one of a day/night doubleheader with St. Cloud at 12:05 p.m. The second game is scheduled to start at 7:05 in St. Cloud.
