Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, of the Northwoods League, is excited to announce the addition of pitchers Kolton Brost and Wyatt Wood to the MoonDogs 2015 Roster.

Kolton Brost is a 6’0, 190 pound Junior southpaw out of Dixie State. The Monsa, Utah native is in his first season with the Red Storm. Brost spent the past two years at the College of Southern Idaho. In his time with the Golden Eagles, he posted a 7-4 record 3.11 ERA, 84 strikeouts, and Region Honorable Mention.

“Kolton is a big strong left handed pitcher who has lots of experience getting big outs of the bullpen,” said Field Manager Ryan Day. “He is the type of reliever who can pitch multiple innings in relief, while maintaining his effectiveness.”

For the Red Storm in 2015, Brost has posted a 4.32 ERA and owns a 1-0 record in five relief appearances over 8.1 innings pitched, while fanning 11 batters. Brost picked up his first win of the season February 21 against Minot State where he threw 3.2 innings, striking out four and only allowing one hit.

Wyatt Wood is a 6’2, 170 pound Sophomore righty out of Azusa Pacific University. The San Dimas, California native is in his second season for the Cougars. In 2014 Wood was a solid middle reliever, throwing 13.2 innings over 10 appearances with 13 strikeouts.

“Wyatt is an extremely athletic pitcher, who comes highly recommended from one of the top Division II programs in California,” said Day. “He is a highly dedicated competitor who we expect to be a part of our starting rotation.”

For the Cougars in 2015, Wood has posted a 4.76 ERA with a 1-0 record in four appearances, all starts, over 17 innings while striking out 19. Wood’s first win of the year came February 28, where he dominated going six innings, only allowing one hit and fanning seven.

“Both Azusa Pacific and Dixie State are prominent Division II programs on a year in and year out basis, and the MoonDogs are very happy to have two quality young men from these programs to share with the city of Mankato for the summer,” said Day.

The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, at 7:05 p.m. against the Rochester Honkers at Franklin Rogers Park. Season tickets are now on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street.
