MANKATO, MN – The Mankato MoonDogs, a member of the Northwoods League, have added two pitchers to their 2016 roster. Jonathan Cheshire, RHP from Davenport University, and Alex Vesia, LHP from Cal State University East Bay, will join the MoonDogs this summer.

Junior pitcher Jonathan Cheshire is on his way to another impressive season for the Davenport University Panthers. In 13 appearances this season, Cheshire has notched a 2-1 record while recording seven saves. His 0.48 ERA is best on the team while allowing just one run so far this season while opponents are hitting .133 in 60 at-bats. In 2015, Jonathan recorded 14 saves for Davenport, second in the country behind former MoonDogs’ standout Tyler Mark.

Alex Vesia is a 6’2” 195-pound sophomore pitcher at Cal State University East Bay. Through seven appearances (all starts), Vesia is 2-3 with a 3.29 ERA. The lefty pitcher has thrown a staff high 41.0 innings for the Pioneers, while also leading the team in strikeouts with 35. Alex nailed down a shutout in his first start of the season on February 5th, going 6.0 innings while allowing two hits and striking out eight.
