(Rochester, Minn.)— The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of first baseman Anthony Sequeira from Oral Roberts University.

Sequeira (Suh-quair-uh) is a 6-foot-6, 235-pound left-handed hitting junior from Petaluma, Calif.  Currently he is hitting .263 with five doubles and nine RBIs.  He has started 27 of 30 games at first base for the Golden Eagles, committing only one error, boasting a .996 fielding percentage.

Sequeira played his first two years of college ball at Santa Rosa Junior College, where he hit .244 with 11 doubles, two triples and eight stolen bases as a sophomore and led the Big 8 Conference with 34 RBIs.     He was a 2013 Rawlings Pacific Association Division Gold Glove Team selection and was awarded All-Big 8 Conference Second Team honors.  Sequeira’s older brother P.J. played for the Rochester Honkers NWL Championship Team in 2009 and was also a member of the ORU baseball team from 2009-2010.

The ORU Golden Eagles host Wichita State this evening, April 9th, for a single game before traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas for a three-game set against Stephen F. Austin starting on Friday.

The Rochester Honkers 21st season begins on May 27th when the Waterloo Bucks prance into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.  The Honkers will play 72 games in 2014 (36 home, 36 away).  Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
