(Rochester, Minn.)—The Rochester Honkers won their final game of the 2015 regular season, topping the Alexandria Blue Anchors 7-4 as they broke their five-game losing streak. Marcus Ethen (Nebraska-Omaha) earned the win for Rochester. Austin Cornish (Texas A&M-CC) was charged with the loss for Alexandria.

Matt Fiedler (Minnesota) starred at the plate, going 2-3 with a home run and four RBIs. It was his second bomb of the year at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

Fiedler opened the scoring as he drove in Ryan Webberley  (Cal Poly Pomona) with a single in the first inning. Alexandria would tie it a 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

Will Paschal (Georgia Gwinnett) brought in Adam Walton (Illinois) with a single to put Rochester back on top in the fourth, but again Alexandria would respond with a tying run.

Fielder would hit his bomb in the fifth with Webberley and Mark Contreras (UC Riverside) on board for the go ahead scoring and a 5-2 Honkers lead.

Alexandria would get one back in the sixth, but Scott Schreiber (Nebraska) would hit a two-run home run in the seventh to stretch Rochester’s lead back out to 7-3.

The Blue Anchors would plate one more in the eighth, but that’s all the closer they would come as the Honkers took the win to break their five game losing streak as they head to the playoffs.

The Honkers will travel to face the St. Cloud Rox in the first round of the NWL North Divisional Playoffs on Monday, August 10th, at 7:05 p.m. Should they win, they will travel to face the winner of Willmar-Duluth on Tuesday, August 11th.
