(Rochester, Minn.) – Tuner Buis was the Rochester Honkers’ lone representative in the Northwoods League All-Star Game in Kenosha, Wis., which the North Division won 9-5 over the South Division.

Buis entered the game in the top of the sixth, where he drew a walk in his first plate appearance, with a run scored. He got to the plate again in the seventh, where he flew out to left field.

The North took a 7-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. They got to the South’s starter Chris Cooper (Wisconsin Rapids Rafters), as he went 0.1 innings, allowed two runs, five of them earned, on five hits and walked one.

With the North leading 2-0, Jake Shepski (Mankato MoonDogs) hit an RBI single, and Drew Freedman (St. Cloud Rox) added an RBI single of his own in the innings, which was followed by Mason McCoy (La Crosse Loggers) who added a RBI single of his own. McCoy led the North’s offense by going 3 for 6 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Luke Ringhofer (St. Cloud Rox) went 4 for 5 with an RBI.

The South got on the board in the third inning when Steven Passatempo (Wisconsin Woodchucks) hit a two-run home run to cut the North’s lead to 7-2. Passatempo got his third RBI of the night in the fifth with an RBI single to make the score 7-3.  He led the South’s offense by going 4 for 5 with three RBI and a run scored.

The North added a run in the sixth and seventh innings, while the South added two in the eighth as the North won 9-5.

Caleb Boushley (Eau Claire Express) got the start and the win for the North Division; he went one inning and allowed one hit in his start. The North used a total of nine pitchers throughout the night in the win.

Errors hurt the South Division, as they committed six of them throughout the game. Three of them came in the first inning where the North jumped out to a 7-0 lead.  

The Honkers are back in action on Thursday as they take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats in Thunder Bay. The Honkers will battle the Border Cats on Thursday and Friday, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. for both games. The Honkers are back at home on Tuesday, July 26th as the Honkers take on the La Crosse Loggers for TV Tuesday presented by Sam’s Club! First pitch is set 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6!
