Two players with Rockford Rivets ties hit home runs on Sunday for the University of Illinois – Chicago in the Flames' first win of the season.

Second baseman David Cronin and first baseman Ricardo Ramirez each homered for the Flames on Sunday in their 9-3 win over Grambling State in the MLB Urban Youth Invitational at New Orleans. The Flames beat Prairie View A&M, 6-1, later Sunday in even their record at 2-2.

Cronin, the only returning Rivet to hit .300 in the Northwoods League last season, was 8-for-16 in four weekend games for UIC. Ramiriez, who as a senior can not come back to the NWL this summer, was 5-for-13 and hit two homers in the invitational.
