CATS EXPLODE IN THE 14th INNING

The Cats needed a little bit extra again tonight but they will return home with a set of wins after sweeping the Woodchucks 13-9 Sunday night in Wausau. The win pushes the Cats second half record to 9-14 and overall record to 26-32.

After fourteen innings and five hours of baseball the Cats earned six runs in the top of the fourteenth inning with Jared James (Long Beach) contributing a two run single. Many Border Cats had impressive multiple run outings with, Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier) contributing three runs on four hits, Max Dutto (California) notching two runs on two hits and three RBI’s, Alan Baldwin (Hawaii) producing one run on two hits and three RBI’s and Tyler Green (Vanderbilt) and Mikael Mogues (Seton Hall) earning two runs a piece.

Starting pitcher Ryan Johnson (Vanderbilt) went the first two innings allowing four runs on five hits while striking out two while Anthony Morris (St. Thomas Aquinas) had the longest outing of the Border Cats pitching staff going four innings allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out three. However it was Julian Loret de Mola (Nova Southeastern) that picked up the win for Thunder Bay pitching the last 3.2 innings allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out two. The win improves Loret de Mola’s record to 3-3.

The Border Cats return home Monday night to face the St. Cloud Rox at 7:05pm EST at TbayTel Park.
