WILD PITCH ENDS GAME IN THE 16th INNING

It took the Cats 16 innings but they came out on top with a 4-3 Tuesday afternoon.  After scoring a single run in the 5th inning to tie the came both St. Cloud and Thunder Bay went for 10 scoreless innings.

All three members of the Border Cats pitching staff had impressive outings with Greg Weissert (Fordham) starting off the first 6.2 innings allowing only three runs and four hits while striking out seven. Fordham teammate Jimmy Murphy came in for 8.1 innings giving up no runs and only three hits, but it was Julian Loret de Mola (Nova Southeastern) that picked up the win for Thunder Bay pitching the last inning and allowing only one hit.

The winning run came courtesy of a wild pitch from St. Cloud pitcher Trevor Charpie (Nevada – Reno) to bring home Grant McKown (Florida Tech) who came in as pinch hitter putting up the one run on one hit. Jared James (Long Beach) and Dan Rizzie (Xavier) also put up one run on one hit a piece in the Tuesday afternoon win.

The Cats play a split double header with the Duluth Huskies Wednesday at TbayTel Park with the first game starting at 1:35pm EST and the second at 7:05pm EST.
