CATS WIN THREE IN A ROW BEFORE BIG DREAMS SHOWCASE

The Cats went into the Big Dreams Showcase with three wins, scoring 34 runs in their last three games sending Johnny York (St. Mary’s) and Greg Weissert (Fordham) to Madison on a high note.

BORDER CATS 14 – EXPRESS – 5

In game one of the series against the Eau Claire Express the Cats took the win giving Jimmy Murphy (Fordham) his second win of the season going 3.2 innings allowing only one run on five hits while starting pitcher Ryan Johnson (Vanderbilt) pitched the first 3.1 innings allowing four runs while striking out three.

Max Dutto (California) picked up his third home run of the year while Mikael Mogues (Seton Hall) notched a his first grand slam. Jared James (Long Beach), Dan Rizzie (Xavier), Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier) and Grant McKown (Florida Tech) all picked up two runs a piece to contribute to the double digit win.

BORDER CATS – 10 – EXPRESS – 5 

The Cats swept picking up another double digit win in Eau Claire Sunday night. Cole Stapler (Nicholls) notched his fourth run going seven innings allowing only four runs on eight hits while striking out four.

Both Dan Rizzie (Xavier) and Max Dutto (California) picked up one home run a piece for the Cats while Jared James (Long Beach) notched three runs on two hits and Matt Batten (Quinnipiac) contributed two runs on three hits. Alan Baldwin (Hawaii) also contributed two runs on two hits in the second double-digit win.

BORDER CATS 10 – BUCKS – 2

In the first game of a two game series against the Waterloo Bucks the Cats won with a double-digit win before breaking for the Big Dreams Showcase in Madison, Wisconsin.

Starting pitcher Yuji Suzuki (Concordia) picked up his second win allowing only two runs on seven hits. Mikael Mogues (Seton Hall) picked up his third home run for the Cats notching a total of two runs on three hits and two RBI’s while Max Dutto (California) also contributed two runs on two hits.

BIG DREAMS SHOWCASE

Two Border Cats made their way from Waterloo, IA to Madison, WI to participate in the Northwoods League Big Dreams Showcase in front of 41 major league scouts. Greg Weissert (Fordham) and Johnny York (St. Mary’s) went one inning a piece allowing only two hits.

The Cats continue their road trip in Waterloo against the Bucks at 7:05pm CST / 8:05pm EST before heading to Wisconsin Rapids.
