CATS OVERWHELMED BY DOGS

Tuesday was not a good day on the field for the Thunder Bay Border Cats as they lost both games of a doubleheader against the Duluth Huskies. They lost the first game 12-4 and the second 8-4.

In game one the Border Cats looked ready to win the game with one out to go… Unfortunately, this changed, quickly. The Huskies – with two outs – scored nine runs in the ninth inning and took a stranglehold on the game as they won 12-4. On the positive, side Alex Sanchez got his Border Cats career off to a terrific start! The catcher out of the University of Miami went 2-5 with a solo home run.

In the second game, the Cats managed to tie the game after being down early but soon after the Huskies took control of the game by scoring three runs in the next two innings. Colton Thomas recorded his first hit as a Border Cat and Noah Strohl added another RBI to his great start.

Off the field, former Border Cat Michael Papierski was selected in the ninth round of the MLB draft by the Houston Astros. Papierski was a huge part of the Cats 2016 squad as he batted .275 with two home runs and 19 RBI’s. The Border Cats wish him the best as he looks to take the next step in his baseball career. The current Cats now have a well-earned day off Wednesday before traveling to Waterloo, Iowa. The Waterloo series will be the final series before the Cats return home to Thunder Bay. YES, that’s right the last series! Make sure you get your tickets for the home opener by visiting the box office or call 766-2287.
