CATS WIN 5-2 IN CRAZY FINISH!

In what was a pitcher’s duel for the majority of the game the Thunder Bay Border Cats escaped Monday night’s game with the 5-2 victory. It was scoreless until the eighth inning with the pitchers dominating! The two teams combined for only one hit each for the first six innings. The Cats starting pitcher, Jake Mielock, was dominant in his six innings pitched. Going into the eighth inning it felt like the first run scored would be enough to win the game. Soon enough thanks to a RBI single from Colin Rosenbaum the Cats took the lead and looked like they would win the game. Sure enough the next half inning the Rox took the lead in an unconventional way. Rox center fielder Drew Avans gave the Rox the lead by stealing home base. The Cats now needed to quickly bounce back from a rough inning to try and retake the lead. Sure enough in the top of the ninth inning, they found themselves with the bases loaded. The tying run for the Cats came off of a balk from the pitcher and then Brendan Dougherty scored two on a triple. Colin Rosenbaum added another run and Evan Johnson picked up the save as the Cats won 5-2.

The Cats will take on the same Rox tomorrow at 8:05EST. Make sure to follow along on Twitter @tbbordercats for up to the minute updates.
