Border Cats Dominate Stingers in 8-2 Win!

In the first game of the final home stand, the Thunder Bay dominated the Willmar Stingers in an 8-2 victory. The Cats starting pitcher Travis Bruinsma dominated the Stingers pitching seven innings and allowing only three hits while striking out five. DJ DePiero followed him up and pitched two innings allowing only one hit and struck out four.

The Stingers got off to the early 2-0 lead in their half of the first inning but the Cats came right back scoring eight unanswered runs. Offensively, Noah Strohl was the first to put those runs on the board with a two run home run in the first inning. The Cats then continued to get more runs with RBI’s from Noah Strohl, Dayne Sommer, Brendan Dougherty, Andy Weber, and Gabe Lozada. The Cats combined for 15 hits with seven of the nine batters each with two hits.

The Cats are back in action tomorrow against the same Willmar Stingers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
