Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks have announced that catcher/third baseman Adam McGinnis has signed to play with the team for the 2015 season.  McGinnis, Adam McGinnisa sophomore at Western Illinois University, is the 16th player to be named to Waterloo’s roster for the squad’s 21st season.

Last season for the Leathernecks, McGinnis hit .281 with 19 RBI.  The 5’11”, 210-pounder hit two home runs and finished with a .348 slugging percentage.

“Adam had a solid season in the Prospect League last summer and we expect him to continue that success with us this year,” said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin.  “He’ll share time behind the plate with Zack Soria and might see a little time at a corner infield spot.”

This season for Western Illinois, McGinnis is hitting .222 with one home run in three games.  The Normal, Illinois native has four RBI and owns a .556 slugging percentage.

Born October 4, 1994, McGinnis attended Normal West High School where he was a three-year varsity letter winner, hitting .486 with 34 runs, 39 RBI, 15 doubles, and three home runs as a senior.  Adam is the son of Rich and Robin McGinnis.

The Bucks, the winningest team in all of summer-collegiate baseball over the past two years, will open the 2015 season on the road versus the Alexandria Blue Anchors on May 26, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus the Mankato MoonDogs on May 28.  Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
