Freshman pitchers Anderson & Lydon, along with sophomore Snyder bolster roster

Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Stingers are excited to announce that they have added three more pitchers to the roster for the 2014 season. Florida Gulf Coast University freshman Garrett Anderson, University of the Pacific freshman Will Lydon, and University of Kentucky sophomore Matt Snyder are all joining the previously announced additions to the 2014 Stingers roster. The roster is now comprised of 26 players for the 2014 season, the Stingers fifth in the Northwoods League.

Anderson is a 6-foot-2 inch, 170-pound right-handed pitcher from Arcadia, FL and is the younger brother of Brady Anderson, who will be part of the Stingers pitching staff as well in 2014. So far for the Eagles, Anderson has appeared in 13 games with 19 1/3 innings pitched with a 2.33 Earned Run Average. He has given up five earned runs and recorded 11 strikeouts. As a senior at Desoto High School (FL), Anderson was named the 2013 All-Area Player of the Year.

Lydon is a 6-foot-3 inch, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Lodi, CA. Lydon has made eight appearances for the Tigers this season, making seven starts on the mound. In 41 innings pitched, which is third most on the pitching staff, Lydon has 28 strikeouts and a 4.39 ERA. During his senior season at Tokay High School (CA), he posted a 1.27 ERA and had 57 strikeouts in 55 innings. Those stats garnered Lydon being named to the All-Area First Team.

Snyder is a 6-foot-4 inch, 190-pound left-handed pitcher from Albany, NY. Snyder has had a unique route to end up pitching for the Wildcats. Snyder began his collegiate career at Virginia Tech where he redshirted, then to Fulton Montgomery Community College, then to Temple University, then finally to the University of Kentucky. Snyder transferred to Kentucky after Temple decided to cut their baseball program. Snyder has made seven appearances out of the bullpen for the Wildcats in 2014 with six innings pitched with five strikeouts.
