WILLMAR, Minn.—The bats have been smoldering for the Stingers at home in the last four games, but Tuesday night at the Beehive the Huskies quieted the Willmar offensive attack and held on for the 4-0 win at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Behind the hot hitting as of late, the Stingers (30-14 overall, 8-7 second) had hit a total of 10 home runs in the last four home games, but the first of the two-game series with Duluth (15-34, 6-7) was a much different looking game and actually the fewest total runs scored in a home game so far this year. After two straight innings of scoreless baseball to start the game by both sides, the Huskies tallied the decisive runs in the top of the third inning, which ended up being all their starter Kevin Peters would need on the mound. Following a fly-out to start the inning against Willmar starter Kurt Yinger, Duluth loaded the bases off a walk and two singles. The Stingers got a ground ball to second base that went home to force the lead runner and keep the score tied at zero, but a batter later, Austin Darby doubled to bring in the two runs of the inning.

Willmar had its best offensive chance of the game back in the very first inning of play, when it notched two hits against Peters. Reagan Fowler singled and then Nick Rivera came right back with a double, but Fowler got thrown out at the plate trying to score on Rivera's hit to end the inning. That was the closest the Stingers would get the rest of the way, as they tallied only three more hits in the final eight innings at the plate.

Despite suffering the loss, Yinger had a solid start and gave up just three runs while striking out six. His control was also superb on the night, right in line with how the Stingers have pitched as a team this year, and he had just one walk throughout his six innings on the mound.

Reagan Fowler led the Stingers with two hits at the plate in four at bats.
