WILLMAR, Minn.—Hutton Moyer had his team-leading 11-game hitting streak ended Tuesday night against Duluth, but he was just saving up for the finale against the Huskies Wednesday at Bill Taunton Stadium. On three separate occasions Moyer went deep, with his third solo shot of the night sending the Stingers to the 9-8 walk-off win.

The Stingers' offensive showcase started in the very first inning with Moyer leading the way to give Willmar (31-14 overall, 9-6 second half) the early advantage. After Brian Pruett was retired to start the bottom of the first, Moyer crushed an 0-1 fastball off the scoreboard in right field to give the Stingers the 1-0 lead. Following a single by Reagan Fowler and walk by Nick Rivera, Casey Hughston drove in the second run of the inning with a double to left field.

Duluth (15-35, 6-8) traded runs with the Stingers over the next three half frames, but Willmar still held the lead after three innings with starter Andrew Towns faring better than Huskies' starter Dylan Barrow, who lasted just four innings. Brett Barbier hit the second home run of the game off Barrow in the bottom of the second inning to make it a comfortable 4-1 lead.

However, there was no lead too comfortable for either team during the night, as the Huskies mounted the comeback to take their first and only lead of the night over the next two innings. With two two-run innings off of Towns, Duluth had the 5-4 lead going to the bottom of the fourth. But Willmar wouldn't that lead last very long. Jack Ross led the bottom of the fourth off with a walk for Willmar and a single by Barbier and a walk by Max Dutto loaded the bases with just one out. Sean Beesley then bounced out to tie the game at five.

The Stingers notched three runs in the bottom of the fifth, which included another solo bomb by Moyer to make it a 8-5 game. But again Duluth returned the favor, this time with two runs in the top of the seventh and one with its back against the wall in the top of the ninth to tie the game at eight.

But back came Moyer, answering the call in the last at-bat for the Stingers. Pruett had grounded out before him, but the Huskies brought in a left hander out of the pen to face Moyer to make him bat from the right, as his two home runs had come from the left side of the plate earlier in the game. Moyer didn't let that bother him though and hammered a 1-0 pitch from Bo Hellquist out to center to send the Beehive into pandemonium.
