SPICER, Minn. — The Stingers closed out the best offensive season in franchise history with one of their highest scoring games of the year on Sunday night at Green Lake Baseball Diamond.

Willmar (41-31, 23-13 second half) overcame two early deficits against the Madison Mallards and then piled on the offense after that in a 14-7 win in the regular season finale.

Madison (43-29, 20-16) had a 2-0 lead after the top of the first and a 4-3 lead after the top of the second, but the Stingers rallied from both of those deficits in what ended up being the third consecutive come-from-behind win.

In the bottom of the first the Stingers scored three times to take their first lead of the game. Eddie Estrada (Minnesota) drove in the first run of the night for the Stingers with an RBI single in the inning and Luke Becker (Kentucky) followed right after that with the first of his two two-run singles to make it a 3-2 lead.

After Madison scored twice in the second to take the lead back, Willmar scored once more in the bottom of the inning to tie the score.

Both teams went scoreless in the third before the Stingers opened up the lead for good with a four-run fourth inning. Greg Lambert had the big blow in the inning, a three-run homer that followed Danny Pardo's RBI single earlier in the frame to make it 8-4. Lambert has three homers over his last four games, while Pardo scored three runs in the game to give him 75 for the season, a franchise record.

The Stingers added to the lead with another four-run frame in the sixth inning. Justin Toerner had an RBI single in the inning, and Becker had his second two-run single to answer two runs from the Mallards in the top of the inning.

Willmar then added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings in the eighth win over its last 10 games.
