Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Stingers are excited to announce another outstanding summer of community giving for area non-profits. Part of the community giving efforts centered on a jersey auction that carried throughout the duration of the 2016 Stingers season courtesy of Thrivent Financial. At select home games, along with bids placed online, fans had the opportunity to place bids on the authentic, inaugural, home white jerseys that have worn by Stingers players as far back as 2010.

On Friday, August 12th that auction came to a close. Stingers fans and sponsors showcased their unbelievable generosity by raising $7,030 for the Willmar Area Food Shelf. This amount is a new record-high in the seven years of holding this auction. With these funds, the food shelf will be able to purchase approximately $70,000 in food for families. This partnership with Thrivent Financial and the Stingers has raised over $30,000 for the Willmar Area Food Shelf the past seven seasons.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity and commitment to the Stingers and this community,” said Stingers co-owner Marc Jerzak. “With the support of Thrivent Financial and Stingers fans we were able to raise significant dollars to help families in West Central Minnesota,” Jerzak added.
