WILLMAR, Minn. – The Stingers split two games with the Mankato MoonDogs Sunday evening, moving to 14-12 on the season.

The night began with the completion of last week's suspended game. The Stingers began the resumption with Brady Shockey (USC) walking and three straight hits to follow. Josh Bissonette (Baylor) and Nolan Bumstead (CS-Northridge) both collected RBI to give the Stingers a two-run lead.

Luke Chevalier (Northern State) then faced seven batters for a two-inning save, his first of the season. His save gave the Stingers a 4-2 victory. Gus Varland (Concordia-St. Paul) got the win, as he was the pitcher of record when the Stingers scored in the bottom of the seventh.

Bumstead completed the game with three doubles, which brings hit total to 10 on the season, the most in the Northwoods League. Shockey is right behind with nine.

In game two, the MoonDogs got ahead early with three runs in the first two innings. The Stingers then responded with only one run in the sixth inning, ultimately coming up short in completing a comeback.

Today's Center for Diagnostic Imaging player of the game was Kale Latorre (Montevallo). CDI is your local medical imaging provider. It’s your choice where you go for medical imaging, for MRI, CT, mammograms and pain injections, choose CDI. Visit online at myCDI.com/CentralMN.

Latorre came in to pitch in the sixth inning, and completed the game on the mound. He faced the minimum in the four innings that he pitched, with one infield hit going for the only base runner of his outing.

Shockey went 2-for-4 and Caleb Ledbetter (Montevallo) drove in the lone run of the day for Willmar. The final score of 3-1 ended the Stingers' three-game win streak.

The Stingers travel to Mankato tomorrow to finish the home-and-home series. So far, they are 2-0 at Franklin Rogers Park this season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and Polo Portela (Sac City) is expected to start for the Stingers.
