Rafters Drop First Game of Doubleheader Against Eau Claire

Wisconsin Rapids falls to 0-4 against the North Division

                    

Eau Claire, Wis.- The Rafters fell 14-3 in the first game of the scheduled day-night doubleheader. The Rafters took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning and looked to be in control after 4 ½ innings leading by a score of 2-1. The Express proceeded to score thirteen of the final fourteen runs of the ball game. Erich Uelmen (Cal Poly) picked up the win for the home team, while Brian Russell (College of Staten Island) took the loss. Wisconsin Rapids moves to 26-30 overall, 11-13 in the 2nd half. The Express with the win, are now 26-34 on the season, and 13-13 in the 2nd half.  

 

Every player in the Eau Claire lineup scored in the 11 run victory. Austin Listi (Dallas Baptist) had a phenomenal day at the plate, collecting 3 extra-base hits and 5 RBI’s in the win. Trevon Benton (___) hit his third home run of the summer, it was a three run blast that extended the Eau Claire lead to 9-3 in the eighth inning. Bryce Jordan (LSU) continued to wreak havoc on opposing pitchers. The DH hit his first home run of the summer, and had his third straight multi-hit game in the Rafters loss.

 

The game two starter for Wisconsin Rapids will be John Jaeger (Pacific). He has been very good out of the bullpen for the Rafters and will get the nod to start only his second game this season. In his last five relief appearances he has allowed only one earned run in eight innings. Bryce Hensley (Catawba Valley CC) will make the start in game two for Eau Claire. He is 1-3 with a 4.23 ERA in seven starts. Eau Claire pitchers will have their hands full as Rafters catcher Bryce Jordan (LSU) comes off a series against Green Bay where he went four for seven with an RBI and a run scored in the two Rafters wins.
