Two Players from Virginia Tech Coming to Wausau for 2016 Season

Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks have announced the addition of two more players for the 2016 season.  Both attending Virginia Tech, Freshman Steven Mangrum and Junior Mac Caples will be joining the team in 2016.

Steve Mangrum3B – Steven Mangrum, 6'0", 205 Ibs, (R/R) Freshman, Virginia Tech

Mangrum is originally from Cozet, VA and attended Western Albermarle High school in Cozet, VA.  He was the Conference 29 and Region 3A West Player of the year for this past season, 2015 and batted .459 with a slugging percentage of .946. Mangrum was selected in the 28th round of the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox in 2015. 

 

Mac CaplesOF – Mac Caples, 6’0", 200 Ibs, (R/R) Junior, Virginia Tech

Caples was born in Waterloo, IA and went to James River High School in Midlothian, VA.  During his sophomore season Caples started in 28 games, 15 in right field and 13 in left field while seeing action in 35 total games.  He batted .200 and had a slugging percentage of .284.
