Woodchucks get another crack tomorrow in Rapids

Madison, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (13-13) fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (18-9), 12-5 and 4-1, in both games of a doubleheader at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.

In the second game, the 'Chucks picked up only one hit and were largely silenced by an impressive Rafters pitching performance.

Tanner Thomas (Utah) answered with an impressive performance of his own on the mound, throwing five shutout innings in relief. He allowed only two hits and struck out seven. Unfortunately for him and the 'Chucks, they weren't able to mount enough offense to come back.

Michael Imperato (Lynn University) took the loss for the Woodchucks.

In game one, Ruben Cardenas (Cal State-Fullerton) and Chad Fleischman (Lamar) both homered in the first two innings — three-run and two-run shots, respectively. For Cardenas, it was his third of the season in just 11 games as a Woodchuck.

Joey Steele (San Francisco) took the loss for the 'Chucks.

The 'Chucks travel to Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow for a 7:05 p.m. game.

The Woodchucks return to action at Athletic Park on Wednesday to battle Green Bay. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Order your tickets today by calling 715.845.5055 or going online to woodchucks.com.
